Larry was born and raised in Georgia with his family and proudly served 2 tours in Vietnam. Shortly there after he moved to what he would now call home and where he started his family in Florida. He was someone that you could always have a great time with and that could make you laugh and smile. Throughout his life he continued to part take in all of the activities he loved the most, traveling with his son, fishing, riding his motorcycle, and playing in his pool league. There have been memories that have been created for a lifetime that will be forever cherished with his children, friends, and family. He was survived by: sister Alice Nichols, son Wayne Scales, step son Joseph Astarita, daughter Christine Callahan, and two grandchildren Nicholas and Katelyn Astarita.
" What is death? Death is nothing at all. I have only slipped away into the next room, and I am I and you are you. Whatever we were to each other then that will be ours still. Speak to me in the easy way that you always used, laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together, let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Life means all that it ever meant: there is absolute unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of mind because I’m out of sight? I am waiting for you, somewhere very near, just around the corner. All is well." - Henry Scott Holland
